Base pay range $85,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr Senior Property Accountant Location: Chicago, IL - Hybrid Join a fast-growing and dynamic team where your accounting expertise will directly impact real estate performance and investor outcomes. We're seeking a Senior Property Accountant who thrives in a collaborative environment, brings strong GAAP knowledge, and is passionate about driving financial accuracy and operational insights across a diverse property portfolio. This is more than a back-office role - you'll work cross-functionally with operations, asset management, and leadership to deliver critical financial reporting, support key business decisions, and play a strategic role in the onboarding of new acquisitions and investor relationships. What You'll Be Doing Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for a portfolio of properties, ensuring timely and accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements. Collaborate with property operations and asset management teams to deliver financial reporting and insights that support effective decision-making. Lead the preparation and distribution of financial reporting packages for internal stakeholders, partners, lenders, and auditors. Analyze and explain budget-to-actual variances, working with site teams to ensure accuracy and accountability. Review journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies. Support annual budget development, audit coordination, and ongoing investor/lender reporting. Assist in the onboarding and setup of new property acquisitions, including journal entries and system integrations. Manage fixed assets and perform quarterly reconciliations using Sage or similar tools. Coach and support junior staff, sharing best practices and ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
