Lasting Support Returns to Annual Beach Trip
After a busy year, the families of Lasting Support have not only grown as they unpack their experiences within our therapeutic circles, but have also formed new friendships and stronger community bonds. For the past few years, we have celebrated the end of the school year with a beach trip, and this year marks our third! We went to Camber Sands Beach with the help of Commonwealth Coaches, who helped us travel for the day, ensuring our families could get back to London without any stress.
What we’ve learned over our time with Building Bridges is that stressors such as trauma, anxiety and even simple life pressures can make plans seem impossible. It is of the utmost importance to us that our families can enjoy summer plans such as exploring a beach, making sandcastles and taking in the sun. For some of our new families, this was their first time at the beach, and it was fantastic to share so many first experiences with them and their children.
We hope that the memories made for the children, the respite felt by the parents and the feeling of being able to stand still, even if for a day, stay with them. These are the moments that restore us and allow us to rebuild our inner peace. Taking that first step is often scary, but for so many of our families joining Building Bridges, it was exactly that, and when we do it together, something beautiful comes out on the other end.
Thank you to every family who came and made such special memories together. Here’s to many more adventures!
