Building Community Through Care: Our National Volunteering Week Impact Day

On Thursday 5th June 2025, we were proud to host our Building Bridges Volunteer & Impact Day in celebration of National Volunteering Week — a heartwarming afternoon dedicated to supporting children affected by domestic violence and trauma.

The event brought together a powerful mix of psychology and social work students, community members, and corporate volunteers. Together, we reflected, connected, and contributed meaningfully to the wellbeing of the children and families we support.

We were especially honoured to be joined by our local beauty queen and Miss Continental UK finalist Lavina Chattrani, who attended to show her support for our mission. Her presence was a reminder of how powerful community advocacy can be in raising awareness and uplifting vital causes.

A huge thank you to Kirby Engineering and Mace for attending and engaging so thoughtfully in the day’s activities, and to Mandie Wilde for kindly offering us the space at Parkview Yards to host the event. Volunteers helped assemble Wellbeing Packs for our Building Bridges families — filled with journals, sensory tools, art materials, and positive affirmations to support emotional healing. But beyond the activity itself, the day underscored a powerful message: community care is essential, especially as statutory funding continues to be cut. This is why we’re keen to build more relationships with socially conscious corporate organisations. The future of accessible, trauma-informed support depends on partnerships rooted in shared values and long-term commitment — not one-off donations or short-term PR.

If your organisation is looking to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.
