Changing young lives for safer futures

We are deeply grateful that Lasting Support has be We are deeply grateful that Lasting Support has been selected alongside @thevavengers as a recipient of the Leap of Faith fundraiser, an annual crowdfunding initiative by @cptope, who will be skydiving to raise £2,222 and donate £1,111 individually to our organisations.

We ask that you share this fundraiser and, if possible, donate. These funds will go towards ending violence against women, aiding children impacted by domestic violence and ensuring a safer world is made for those most vulnerable. The donation link can be found in our bio.

There’s something beautiful about sharing a moment of wonder with people you trust, a reminder that even in the busiest of times, we can pause, breathe, and create memories together. Thank you to everyone who came along 🌑☀️

One thing we’ve learnt through Building Bridges is that trauma, anxiety and life’s pressures can make even the simplest plans feel impossible. But when we take that first step together, something beautiful happens.
A day at the beach isn’t just a day at the beach. It’s children making happy memories, parents taking a breath, friendships growing, and families remembering that joy still belongs to them.
These are the moments that restore us. 🤍
Thank you to every family who came and made such special memories together. Here’s to many more adventures! 🌊🐚💙
We were absolutely delighted to welcome. MP @apsan We were absolutely delighted to welcome. MP @apsanabegummp to Building Bridges yesterday.

There was something incredibly powerful about having someone whose understanding of domestic abuse is not only shaped by her role in Parliament, but also by lived experience. You could see how deeply she understood the realities our families face. We often welcome visitors who understand the policy—but it’s rare to meet someone who truly *gets it*.

As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Domestic Violence and Abuse, Apsana is uniquely placed to see what effective interventions look like and why early, trauma-informed support for children and families matters so much.

Domestic abuse affects millions of adults across the UK, and children are too often the hidden victims. Growing up with domestic abuse can have a profound impact on a child’s emotional wellbeing, relationships, education and long-term health, making early intervention not just important, but essential.

Thank you, Apsana, for taking the time to visit us, for listening so thoughtfully to our families and team, and for championing survivors both inside and outside Parliament. It was a privilege to share the work of Building Bridges with you, and we hope it is the beginning of an ongoing conversation about how we can ensure children affected by domestic abuse receive the support they deserve.
We’re proud to share that @swkplay has chosen Last We’re proud to share that @swkplay has chosen Lasting Support as their charity partner for their upcoming production of Firebird.

Firebird is an unflinching drama that exposes the devastating impact of grooming and exploitation, and lays bare the failures of the systems designed to protect children in the UK. A decade on from its acclaimed West End transfer from Hampstead Theatre, this powerful new revival from Double Telling combines movement and an original score, described by @thetimes as “remarkably potent.”

This story sits at the heart of our work. Every day we support children and families rebuilding their lives after trauma, exploitation and harm and partnerships like this one help us reach new audiences with that message, while raising vital awareness of an issue that too often stays hidden.

Thank you to Southwark Playhouse for choosing to partner with us.

Firebird runs at Southwark Playhouse on 24 July, 7:00–8:30pm.

Connecting Through the Arts continues to remind us Connecting Through the Arts continues to remind us that creativity has the power to bring people together. Alongside our wellness, art and music sessions, we were delighted to introduce poetry today with the amazing @annasinskipoetry , giving families another creative way to express themselves, reflect and connect.

We’re so excited to continue offering these free sessions until the end of August. At the heart of this project is a simple goal: helping people in Ealing feel more connected, feel safer and experience a stronger sense of belonging, while giving families access to creative opportunities that many might not otherwise have. The therapeutic impact of the arts is incredible, creating space for connection, confidence, healing and joy.

We were spotlighted and invited to attend the Soci We were spotlighted and invited to attend the Social Venture Weekend at @cambridgeuniversity Alongside Give Your Best, we had the opportunity to speak to master’s students about our work. We brought some of our brightest volunteers, ambassadors, and young people along to experience it, they got to network, learn, and take in everything Cambridge has to offer. We really are one team.
Yesterday, the incredible team at @macegroup compl Yesterday, the incredible team at @macegroup completely surprised our Building Bridges families with hundreds of brand-new toys, books and more.

To some, they may just look like toys. But for many of the children we support, they represent so much more.

Many have fled domestic abuse with their non-abusive parent, leaving home with only the clothes they were wearing. Some have spent months living in temporary accommodation or hostels, leaving behind their bedrooms, treasured belongings and the sense of security every child deserves.

Watching these children choose a brand-new gift of their own was a powerful reminder that healing often comes through moments of kindness, dignity and hope. There were tears from parents, staff and volunteers alike.

MACE understood that. They didn’t just donate toys – they reminded our families that they are seen, valued and cared for.

Thank you, MACE, for your extraordinary generosity and for bringing so much joy to our children.

If you’re an individual or a business wondering whether you can make a difference, the answer is yes. Whether it’s donating your time, skills, resources or funding, your support can help create moments like these for families rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse.

What a day! Our Volunteer & Impact Day during #Nat What a day! Our Volunteer & Impact Day during #NationalVolunteeringWeek at Spaces brought together an incredible group of people who gave their time and energy to assemble Wellbeing Packs for children and young people in Ealing who have experienced domestic violence and trauma at home.

Together, we assembled Wellbeing Packs for the children and families we support through our Building Bridges programme. These aren’t just packs, they’re a reminder to a child that someone sees them, cares about them, and wants them to feel safe.

We could not have made this happen without the incredible support of Mace, The Hill Group and @metpolice_uk Thank you for showing up, rolling up your sleeves, and genuinely sharing our values. This is what meaningful partnership looks like.

To everyone who came, donated and gave their time, you made a difference. A real one. 💙
