Changing young lives for safer futures

✨ National Recognition for Lasting Support! ✨ Yes

✨ National Recognition for Lasting Support! ✨

Yesterday, we were incredibly proud to be named finalists at the National Children & Young People Awards, in the Partnership Working Award category! 🏆

To be recognised on a national stage means so much to us, particularly in a category that reflects something at the very heart of our work: the power of collaboration.

At Lasting Support, we believe meaningful and lasting change happens when organisations, professionals, families and communities come together with a shared commitment to improving the lives of children and young people.

This recognition is a testament to our incredible team, partners and the families who place their trust in us every day.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey, and excited for what’s ahead. 💙

🏆 Our second award for Sporting Souls this year! 💜

🏆 Our second award for Sporting Souls this year! 💜

We are incredibly honoured to have received the Mayor’s Shared Endeavour Award for Most Holistic Project!

We genuinely weren’t expecting to win, which made this recognition even more special.

What made the day particularly meaningful was receiving the award alongside Tamayah, a former Sporting Souls beneficiary who has now joined us as a co-facilitator. Seeing young people we once supported return to inspire others is what this work is truly about. ❤️

This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without @paul_cox999 therapeutic oversight, our incredible delivery team @mightymobs , Maleek, @__rebecca__moore and @ccwild79 Wild, and our brilliant management team @payzeespeaks , @faysalcurry , Ilham and Haaniyah.

A huge thank you to all the schools and settings that have trusted us to work with their young people, and to our funders for believing in our approach.

Two awards in one year is wonderful recognition, but seeing the impact on young people’s lives will always be our greatest achievement.

Here’s to continuing to create opportunities for young people to heal, grow and thrive! 💜

Children are not just witnesses to domestic abuse.

Children are not just witnesses to domestic abuse. They are victims in their own right, and their voices deserve to be heard. 💜

We were proud to contribute to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)’s engagement on violence against women and girls (VAWG), bringing an often overlooked perspective to the conversation: the experiences of children affected by domestic abuse.

We were especially proud to have two of our incredible Building Bridges Parent Ambassadors, Asma and Donna, represent Lasting Support, bringing lived experience, courage and invaluable insight to discussions about improving policing responses and strengthening accountability.

The engagement brings together specialist VAWG organisations, senior Metropolitan Police officers and representatives from MOPAC to explore findings and recommendations from a year-long programme of engagement across London and nationally.

At Lasting Support, we see first-hand how domestic abuse affects not only individual victims but also the relationships between mothers and their children. How professionals and institutions respond can have a lasting impact on a family’s safety, trust and recovery.

Meaningful change cannot happen without listening to those most affected, including children whose experiences too often remain invisible.

A special thank you to Asma and Donna. We are incredibly proud of the advocates you have become and grateful for your commitment to ensuring that other families’ voices are heard.

This is what lived experience informing meaningful systemic change looks like.

Thank you to @cptope, who braved the skies by taking a leap of faith for our organisation and @thevavengers! We're incredibly grateful for his donation and support, as the work we do can only continue through thoughtful contributions from people like Captain.

Violence prevention work is essential, but proving

Violence prevention work is essential, but proving its impact isn't always straightforward. How do you measure the fight that never happened, the path that was never taken? 🤔
In this video, @jonathanroeders speaks to that exact challenge: the work is desperately needed, yet demonstrating the real, tangible impact of early intervention is one of the hardest parts of this field.
It's something we live every day through our Building Bridges and Sporting Souls programmes. The wins aren't always visible in a headline. They're in a young person choosing a different path, a family staying together, a future that looks different because someone stepped in early.
Impact isn't always loud. Sometimes it's quiet, ongoing, and life-changing. 🙌

Tomorrow night, Britain’s Forgotten Girls airs on

Tomorrow night, Britain’s Forgotten Girls airs on BBC Two at 9pm. We at Lasting Support are proud and honoured to have been asked to contribute to this powerful documentary.
The producers, Alessia Camoirano and Jamie Tahsin, did an incredible job with their research, and the care and sensitivity they brought throughout the process really showed. Most importantly, the survivors were placed front and centre, with their voices, experiences and resilience given the space they deserve.
This is a difficult but vital watch, shining a light on decades of exploitation that has too often gone unheard. We’d strongly encourage everyone to tune in.

We are deeply grateful that Lasting Support has been selected alongside @thevavengers as a recipient of the Leap of Faith fundraiser, an annual crowdfunding initiative by @cptope, who will be skydiving to raise £2,222 and donate £1,111 individually to our organisations.

We ask that you share this fundraiser and, if possible, donate. These funds will go towards ending violence against women, aiding children impacted by domestic violence and ensuring a safer world is made for those most vulnerable. The donation link can be found in our bio.

Our Lasting Support community came together to watch the solar eclipse.

There’s something beautiful about sharing a moment of wonder with people you trust, a reminder that even in the busiest of times, we can pause, breathe, and create memories together. Thank you to everyone who came along 🌑☀️

The group chat before the trip: “I’m not sure we’ll make it...” 😅
The group chat after the trip: “When’s the next one?” 😂🌊☀️
One thing we’ve learnt through Building Bridges is that trauma, anxiety and life’s pressures can make even the simplest plans feel impossible. But when we take that first step together, something beautiful happens.
A day at the beach isn’t just a day at the beach. It’s children making happy memories, parents taking a breath, friendships growing, and families remembering that joy still belongs to them.
These are the moments that restore us. 🤍
Thank you to every family who came and made such special memories together. Here’s to many more adventures! 🌊🐚💙

We were absolutely delighted to welcome. MP @apsan

We were absolutely delighted to welcome. MP @apsanabegummp to Building Bridges yesterday.

There was something incredibly powerful about having someone whose understanding of domestic abuse is not only shaped by her role in Parliament, but also by lived experience. You could see how deeply she understood the realities our families face. We often welcome visitors who understand the policy—but it’s rare to meet someone who truly *gets it*.

As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Domestic Violence and Abuse, Apsana is uniquely placed to see what effective interventions look like and why early, trauma-informed support for children and families matters so much.

Domestic abuse affects millions of adults across the UK, and children are too often the hidden victims. Growing up with domestic abuse can have a profound impact on a child’s emotional wellbeing, relationships, education and long-term health, making early intervention not just important, but essential.

Thank you, Apsana, for taking the time to visit us, for listening so thoughtfully to our families and team, and for championing survivors both inside and outside Parliament. It was a privilege to share the work of Building Bridges with you, and we hope it is the beginning of an ongoing conversation about how we can ensure children affected by domestic abuse receive the support they deserve.
